Brow Lift
Raising heavy brows and smoothing the forehead — how a brow lift complements eyelid surgery and a facelift.
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift raises drooping eyebrows and smooths the forehead and frown lines between the brows. Modern brow lifts are often endoscopic, performed through several small incisions hidden in the hairline, through which the surgeon releases and elevates the brow. Other approaches include a temporal (lateral) lift or, less commonly now, an open lift.
Heavy brows vs heavy lids
Sometimes what looks like excess upper-eyelid skin is actually a descended brow pushing down on the lid. Treating the lid alone in that situation can pull the brow even lower. A good surgeon distinguishes the two and may recommend a brow lift instead of, or alongside, upper blepharoplasty.
This is exactly the kind of judgement a properly trained surgeon makes at consultation — another reason expertise matters more than the procedure name.
Recovery
Swelling and some bruising of the forehead and around the eyes are usual for one to two weeks. Numbness or itching along the incisions as nerves recover is common and settles over weeks to months.
