Overdone & Windswept Results
The ‘windswept’ look — and how good technique avoids it.
Why faces look ‘done’
The pulled, ‘windswept’ or wind-tunnel look that people fear comes mainly from tension on the skin — a hallmark of outdated skin-only techniques — and from over-aggressive lifting in a single direction. It can also result from ignoring volume loss, leaving a tight but hollow face.
How it is avoided
Modern technique avoids it by placing tension on the deeper SMAS and released ligaments rather than the skin, lifting tissue in natural vectors, and restoring volume where needed with fat transfer. The result should look like you, rested — not stretched.
★ Key point
A natural result is a technique-and-judgement issue, not luck. It is one more reason the surgeon matters more than the brand of lift.
