Am I a Candidate?
Skin laxity, general health and realistic expectations matter far more than your age.
What makes a good candidate
Good candidates generally have noticeable sagging of the lower face or neck, reasonable skin elasticity, are in good general health and hold realistic expectations. There is no fixed age — suitability is about your tissues and health, not a number.
Health and lifestyle
Your surgeon will review your medical history, medications and blood pressure. Two factors deserve special mention:
Smoking greatly increases the risk of poor wound healing and skin necrosis. Most surgeons require you to stop several weeks before and after surgery. Uncontrolled high blood pressure raises the risk of haematoma and should be managed first.
Realistic expectations
A facelift makes you look like a rested, younger version of yourself — not a different person, and not frozen in time. You will continue to age, from a younger starting point. Patients who understand this are the happiest with their results.
