Mini Facelift
A shorter-scar facelift for early jowling, typically in younger patients — what it can achieve and its limits.
What is mini facelift?
A mini facelift is a smaller operation that addresses early jowling and mild lower-face laxity through shorter incisions, usually around the ear without extending far into the hairline or behind the ear. It often still tightens the SMAS, just over a smaller area. Because it is less extensive, downtime is usually shorter and it can sometimes be done under sedation rather than general anaesthetic.
‘Mini’ does not mean ‘mini result’ only in the sense of less downtime — it also means less correction. A mini lift cannot fix significant neck laxity or heavy jowls. Be wary of clinics marketing a mini lift as a like-for-like substitute for a full facelift; for the right candidate it is excellent, but for the wrong one it disappoints.
Who is it best for?
It suits younger patients (often 40s to early 50s) with early jowling, good skin quality and minimal neck involvement. Patients with significant sagging or a heavy neck are usually better served by a full lower facelift and neck lift.
