What facial implants do
Facial implants are solid, biocompatible shapes placed over the bone to enhance facial structure. A chin implant projects a weak or receding chin, improving the balance of the profile and the definition of the jaw and neck. Cheek implants add projection to flat or aged cheeks.
Structure under the soft tissue
Soft-tissue procedures like a facelift work best over good underlying structure. A weak chin, for example, makes a full neck look worse and harder to correct; adding chin projection can dramatically improve the jaw and neckline. In many cases fat transfer is used instead of or alongside implants to restore structure more naturally.
