The Consultation
How to prepare, what a good surgeon assesses, and the questions worth asking.
What a good surgeon assesses
A thorough consultation involves examining your skin quality, the degree and pattern of sagging, your underlying bone structure, volume loss and the position of your brows and eyelids. The surgeon should discuss which technique suits your face and why, and be honest about what surgery can and cannot achieve.
How to prepare
Bring a list of your concerns in priority order, your medical history and medications, and any questions. It is reasonable to ask to see before-and-after photographs of the surgeon’s own patients, and to take time before deciding.
A consultation should never feel like a sales pitch. Pressure to ‘book today’ for a discount is a red flag — see warning signs.
