BAAPS & BAPRAS

What these memberships mean and how to check them.

Who they are

BAAPS (the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) are the leading UK professional bodies for plastic surgeons. Membership signals recognised training and a commitment to professional standards and audit.

How to use this

Both associations let you search for members on their websites, and many surgeons list their membership openly. While membership is not the only marker of quality, combined with GMC Specialist Registration and a CQC-regulated hospital it gives strong reassurance.
