Neck Lift

Tightening the platysma muscle and removing neck laxity — usually combined with a facelift for a defined jawline.

What is neck lift?

A neck lift addresses the loose skin, fat and muscle banding that blur the jawline and create a ‘turkey neck’. The core step is often a platysmaplasty: the two edges of the platysma muscle, which separate and form vertical bands with age, are stitched back together in the midline to recreate a sharp cervicomental angle (the angle between chin and neck). Excess fat may be removed or sculpted, and skin redraped.

A neck lift is very frequently performed together with a lower facelift, because lifting the jowls without addressing the neck rarely looks balanced.

ⓘ Good to know

Many people who think they want ‘just a neck lift’ actually get the best result from a combined lower face and neck lift, because the jowl and neck are one continuous problem.

Who is it best for?

It suits patients with neck banding, loose neck skin or excess fat under the chin. Younger patients with isolated fat and good skin tone may need only liposuction or a less extensive procedure; those with significant skin laxity need formal skin and muscle tightening.
